Ursula is a documentary film and multimedia project exploring how young women in Sierra Leone pursue personal power and security through the formation of sexual relationships.
The project aims to deepen discussion about the nature of human bonds predicated on monetary exchange and explore the formation of informal communities, particularly among young people, in societies characterized by conflict and displacement.
In focus here is the nighttime community of Konomany Lorry Park in eastern Kono District, where every evening at dusk shops lock, plain clothes replace police uniforms, and men gather at a small bar behind an unfinished city building for music, dancing, and a chance with the women who arrive after dark.
